The small village of Capafonts is found at the heart of Prades mountains. The beauty of its landscape has been sculpted by the Brugent river, combining the beautiful areas along the river with the steep mountains full of dense forests and breathtaking panoramic views. All seasons make this area special and give it an undeniable beauty.

Historically speaking, the village of Capafonts was first named at the Prades municipal charter in 1159. It is believed that it was reconquered by Ponç de Cervera and integrated into the Prades county. The place name Capafonts has its origin in the latin word Capite fontium ‘spring’s birth’ in reference to the great amount of water springs in the area.
